Man Market

So WNCI's Man Market last night was interesting. Definitely a lot more fun than a couple of years ago when I went. It was at Flannagan's, and it was packed, shoulder to shoulder. I drank semi-heavily (I wasn't driving), and actually got the courage to make it up on stage where Dave Kaelin told them all I looked like John Lennon. I have to say, I was flattered. I've never really looked like any celebrity, but I guess with the longer hair and scruffiness I finally do. And I like John Lennon. Who doesn't? Then the really scary part came. I had to dance. On stage. In front of a mass of screaming women. I did it, looking (I think) semi confident, although as we exited through the parking lot a short time later one girl did comment that she could tell I 'flew' off the stage. Oh, well. I still was a lot braver than I would have been a couple fo years ago. Now if it had only helped me meet girls... :)

Life Without a DVR

I have had no DVR for something like three weeks now, and I am just now realizing how bad I was about watching tv. I watched way too much. I tried to keep up with every show every person I knew tended to talk about, and even then I failed. Plus I watched the shows I really loved, like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Since I no longer have a DVR, I have to rely on a VCR that won't program. I have to actually be home to push record. This means that if I want to watch The Venture Brothers, I have to be home Sunday nights. It runs at 10:30pm and 2:30am. My only other shows I am trying to keep up with, Daily, Colbert, Reno 9-1-1, and Project Runway, all run multiple reruns every week, so I have time to catch them if I miss their regular timeslots. Hence I have been able to watch those five shows. Three of them will be done for the year soon, only the two political shows continue. But thinking about the number of shows coming back and new shows I want to watch, figuring in how little I will actually be home due to full time working and full time schooling, I am afraid I may have to drop quite a few of my shows. And that may be a good thing. I do watch too much and I need to cut back.
On a related note, I am totally not going to miss on Sunday, and I suggest you do not either. I don't know the lineup of roasters they have yet, but Lisa Lampanelli is back, and that is plenty for me. Also, Rob Corrdry is about to leave The Daily Show, as he said this week, although if his new show fails, maybe he'll be back? I don't know what to hope for. With the departure / promotion of Stephen Colbert, Corrdry kind of stepped up as everyone's favorite contributed. Ed Helms has been rarely seen, although he is still listed on imdb as a cast member. At least we still have Lewis Black, when he feels like it, and Samantha Bee, for now, as well as two ofthe slew of new correspondents who joined last year that are fun, including Bee's husband Jason Jones, Dan Bakkedahl. There were lots of others last year, and they disappeared. The one I miss most is the depressingly short lived nephew of Rob, Nathan Corrdry, although he will be seen on the one new show I have to watch this season, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. There are a few new guys who seem ok though. Ah, well. Time to go. I need to quit wasting time talking about tv.

Hello

I really don't have much to update, other than to remind you of our housewarming party this weekend. My Target job is ok, but I miss certain aspect of ym Flyer's job. Oh, well. It's a better, more friendly company, at least so far. Of course, Flyer's used to be that in the early days too. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi to everybody. Bye! :)

I'm A Big Kid, Er Adult, Now

It's official. I finished college yesterday. I finished my class by 7pm and now I am totally done and have earned a bachelor degree. I didn't feel excited, or anything at all, about the graduation ceremony in June, but I was pretty excited to be finished last night. I figure I'll probably get an A in the class and it was more fun than I thought it was going to be. I am moving out this morning from my aunt's house and into my first real apartment. I'll miss my cousins, aunt, and uncle, and my cousins are definitely going to miss me - they keep telling me and they're reading over my shoulders right now. :) Chris, Mandy, step back! :) They're going to go flush my car keys down the toilet or tie me to a chair or blow up my apartment so I have to move back, or so they are telling me. Anyway, I finally am out on my own completly, no more college owned place, and I feel like a real adult. It's great. Life has begun.

Stuff

So I don't have much to write about except to say that I am moving back to Westerville tomorrow, and the stupid cable service won't be over to hook up our internet for an ENTIRE WEEK!!! So this is like vacation all over again. If you want to get ahold of me, and I hope you do, just call. And I am now a moderator for www.hotornot.com so go there and use it. It's fun. Oh, and I also got tagged by Jenn and Amanda to do some song thing where you list five songs and the artists that you are currently playing a lot, no particular order, and then tag 5 other people to do the same. Crazy World

Every so often I throw in my own opinions on the world and politics on this page and you can either take them or leave them. The first thing I want to talk about is Joe Bidden, a senior senator for Delaware, and a Democrat at that. He was on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart this week talking about how he has began to prepare for the 2008 presidential election. Stewart began pushing about running mates and John McCain's name came up - a Republican senator from Arizona. Both are moderates and they have worked on a lot of projects together in the Senate. Now in my naive-ness and lack of knowledge on these people, the idea of a Republican-Democrat split ticket sounds awesome! Stewart kept pressing Bidden on whether it would actually happen or not and finally, after some haggling, Bidden said YES. So does that mean they're running together? I guess we have to wait and see. But this is a ticket I, at least at first glance, can get behind. It might help put a stop to the country's division. And they were against the Iraq War, so that makes me happy.

Another thing Stewart talked about on that episode was oil prices. Did you know that Exxon made over 7 billion dollars in PROFIT last QUARTER!?! This is freakin' ridiculous! The government just approved of a bill to give millions of dollars for oil companies to research fuel sources and billions of dollars in tax breaks, when the oil companies are making tons of money in pure profit and we're paying out our ass at the pumps. I am sick of this crap and it really pisses me off. I've tried to defend gas prices, saying we're almost out of oil and we still pay less than most place in the world anyway, but with statistics like that, I just want to ring someone's neck. Isn't it insane?
